Grow your green thumb at our Beginner Gardening Class!

February 26th from 6pm-8pm
at Joplin Greenhouse & The Coffee Shop –
2820 E 32nd St. Joplin, MO.

This free, public class is perfect for anyone interested in starting their own vegetable garden. This course will provide you all the fundamentals you need to get started, regardless of whether you are a total beginner or have previous experience.

The class will begin with a 30-minute instructional presentation that will cover the benefits of gardening. You'll learn about the many rewards of growing your own vegetables including the health benefits, the satisfaction of cultivating your own food, and the joy of watching your plants grow and flourish.

In addition to discussing the advantages, the session will also cover some of the difficulties you could face while beginning a vegetable garden. We'll discuss typical issues including deciding on the ideal location, picking the ideal plants, preventing pests and diseases, and making sure your garden receives enough sunlight, water, and nutrients.

You'll discover how to get beyond these challenges so that gardening is as successful and fun as possible.

By the end of the class, you'll have a solid understanding of the basics of vegetable gardening and be ready to start your own garden with confidence. Whether you have a small balcony, a large yard, or anything in between, this class will give you the knowledge and skills you need to create a thriving garden.

Beginning Beekeeper Classes

Presented by the Joplin Area Beekeepers Association

Starting January 31st, the Beginning Beekeeper Classes will be held every Monday through the month of February. They will help the interested or new beekeeper to understand the ins and outs of a hive. What's the real job of the queen? The proper clothing and tools available. How to check for problems and how to deal with them. The excitement of getting to know your bees and making new friends. The benefits of bees. The first taste of your own honey! And much more.

Cost: Free

The first class will be on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM CST.

Do you have a special talent you'd like to share? We'd like to invite musicians, poets, and artists of all kinds to join us for a relaxed evening full of performances by all of you!
Doors open at 5:30 and performance sign-up is first come first serve.
Full serves will be provided in the coffee shop and there will even be a secret menu released for the event.

Join Vita Nova Village on Saturday, January 15th for a Chili & Pie Tasting. Entry for chili and pie tasting is $10 adults and $5 children. The event is raising funds toward the organizations mission to provide homeless individuals with a private living space, while assisting with employment and targeted education for a path to housing stability and a productive and meaningful life.

There will be a prize for best chili and also a raffle happening during the event.

50% of sale from the coffee shop during the event will be donated to Vita Nova Village.
